How to get the timing when the status of requirement is changed in DNG?

We would like to know the timing when the status of requirement is changed in DNG because we need to execute specific actions when the status of requirement is changed.

We know that we’re able to get the timing when the status of RTC workitem is changed by using validating or post processing mechanism during saving WI of RTC. But it seems that we’re not able to use the same way for DNG.
On the other hand, I found the following infomation. According to this article, we’re able to get requirements by using ‘Filter by modification date’ at the fixed interval (kind of polling). Is this the only way to get the timing when the status of requirement is changed? Of is there any better way?
