Selecting work item approvers

Current, out of the box RTC, allows for a user to add approvers to a work item. However, the filter is currently by name and allows any valid user to be selected as an Approver. We have a requirement to limit the selection to the users who have a specific role such as "Approver". This would allow the user to only select a user whose role is of type "Approver". Is there a way to do this via some configurable setting or available API?

Filtering users based on roles is not yet possible in RTC 2.0, but improved support for roles is planned for the next release.
Please file an enhancement to make sure that this specific features gets addressed.

We are using RTC 3.0.1 and have the same concern/issue. We have quite a large client who at present is annoyed, but eventually will see this as a functional issue with the product. This function of filtering a "collection" in a "combo box" is also seen as an annoyance for the Assigned To attribute where a team may have several members in a Role that is set in the process configuration Team Configuration Permission to create a specific work item type, yet all users in all roles show up in the pull down.
