Reporting: Export of Epic, Story & Task to Excel has duplicate record id's

Hi,

I created a report in CCM which gives the list of Epic, Story and Task in  tabular format. while exporting that report in the excel spreadsheet it includes duplicate id's of the parent record, e.g., if there are 3 stories for an epic, there are 3 rows with the Epic ID. How we can remove this kind of repetition while export to excel spreadsheet .

This is obviously no repetition, but represents the fact that each of the stories have the epic as a parent (because they are children). If you don't want to see that information, just remove the column "Parent" from the exported ones.

Hi Ralph,

When we export data into excel spreadsheet  then it shows the repeated ID of the epic. Is there any way while export it will merge the similar rows data for same ID? In CCM report it shows the record as per requirement but when we export same report into excel then it shows repeated data.

I think you don't understand what you are seeing and that causes the issue. Maybe I am wrong. In that case, paste the header and the lines containing the stories and the epic here.

Ideally export as CSV file, open it with a text editor and paste the content for the header and the lines of interest.

Please note again, if you select links such as parent as column to export, they will contain the ID of the work item that is referenced. so if you have an epic 1 that has three children 2,3,4 you will see a column

ID; Parent
1;
2; 1
3; 1
4; 1

This is as designed.

Hi Ralph,

I think, This is what he is getting in excel format :

And this is what he needs:

I have also tried  this using JRS 6.0 but failed to do so. :(

Ah, dang it, I missed that it is a Reporting question and it is also not tagged that way either. Not sure how to group it that way.

Does anyone have an idea how to do this? See the desired format in Naveen's comment. Thanks

Note: it is fine in the table report in Report Builder, problem happens after Excel export.

Confirmed with dev member. Unfortunately it is not possible to merge cells in exported Excel file as of version 6.0.6.1.
