Retrieving inline user information using a foundation < 5.0.1

Hi,

reading through the Process Rest Api Specs, I stumbled upon this section (Link) where it is said that you can retrieve the inline user information by adding the parameter to the regarding link.

However, this only works with foundation 5.0.1 or higher even though the description of the parameter indicates to me that there should be another way to get those information. Is that true and if so, how do I get them? When talking about inline user information, I am trying to get the 'name' and the 'id' of a specific member.
