RTC 2.0 - Project planning data sharing with other tools

Eamon McCormick (4195) | asked Jul 01 '09, 4:07 p.m.
Hi,

I have a customer asking if he can take resource information, pulled from Work Item estimates and actuals, and rolled up in Iteration Plans, and feed it into other tools. His organization has custom software that tracks overall resource utilization. He'd like for the data related to S/W development resources to come from RTC.

I know RTC is very open and extensible. I'm just not sure if you can get information at that level of detail.

Thanks!

It is currently not directly possible to access the data presented in a
plan, as this is a live view onto the repository that exists in memory
only, without any public API to access it.

However, you can always query for the work items and fetch the
estimates, parent-child relations etc manually, then process the data
yourself. This is quite a bit of work and must probably be adopted to
match future versions of the agile planning tools.
