I'm quite new to extending Jazz-- haven't done it at all.

Am being asked by my team to modify our Plan Items so that they have an automatically generated identifier in them for reference in documents, emails and discussions. Instead of the existing integer IDs that RTC generates for work items, the team wants the format to be recognizable specifically as a plan (we call them requirement) item. So we want a name like REQ00147. We'd also prefer (though this is not a big deal) that they be numbered sequentially (there should be no gaps, as you get with the current Jazz ID because work item IDs are not just for plan items but also for tasks, enhancements, defects, etc).

Is there a way to do this?

Is there a way to add it to already existing Plan Items?
