Chart doesn't match data

Hi, we're having some trouble with the default iteration plan charts.
The Planned Items for this plan show seven tasks, two stories, and four
defects, all of which are open. The chart (Open Work Items by Type)
shows six tasks only.

I've run the same Open Work Items by Type report manually via the
Eclipse client from the Report Templates list, setting the parameters to
match what I think the iteration plan chart is using. I get the
identical chart.

I then click on the Show Work Items link under the graph, and the work
items view shows 13 work items.

What am I missing for how to make the graph match the data?

The data shown in the chart is always data as recorded from past midnight.
So it could be a few hours stale.

No, the problem has been here for many days. I checked again today, and
the actual set of work items in the Planned Items tab are 11
tasks and two stories (no defects). The Chart today shows the open
tasks climbing up to 9, but no stories data is included in the chart.

Both stories were opened back in February, and haven't been modified since.

Hi Mark, I am having a hard time following the numbers :)
So to summarize, can the problem be described as : The Open Work Items by Type report does not count open Stories?

Sorry about the confusion, I was incorrect in my first post about having
defects, they were instead tasks in a different folder in the planned
items tab.

You are right, the problem is that only tasks are showing in our Open
Work Items by Type report, either in the iteration plan Charts tab, or
when run by hand. Clicking on the Show Work Items link under the chart
does show the stories.

There could be several reasons why the Stories are not being listed in the Open Work Items by Type chart:

Can you please check the Process Configuration of your project area and make sure the states associated with the Story work item type have the group field set to values other than none.

Also feel free to open a work item so we can better exchange files and debugging information.
