how do I create a copy of an attribute column in the same module in the same RM project........with the result being 2 columns [2 column attributes with the same content]?

the context is I'd like to create a was/is view, i.e. propose a change but have the prior content visible with the proposed change

There's no way to do this... you can only add an attribute column once.  Even if it did allow adding a column twice it would have to show the exact same value twice, which I don't think would be useful.  I think the only way to do what you are suggesting (from what I understand of it) would be to have 2 different attributes.
