Assemble Product Stream using Global Configuration Management
This guideline describes how to assemble a stream for the new product variant or version with new contributing local streams of engineering artifacts using Global Configuration Management.

Main Description

Steps

1. Open the Configuration Explorer (log in if prompted)

a. To get to the configuration explorer, select ‘Open Configuration Management’ from the ‘Configurations’ menu in any of the Rational DOORS Next Generation, Design Manager, or Rational Quality Manager tools. As an alternative, you can also navigate directly to the Global Configuration Management (GCM) application.

b. Select the ‘Global Configurations’ tab to open the Welcome screen.

2. Update all the relevant global configurations for the task that you are performing. To locate a global configuration, enter its name into the search field.

3. For each global configuration that you need to re-configure, navigate to the ‘Contributions’ tab, and for each contribution that a new local stream was created, choose the “Replace” option. This will allow you to replace the current baseline selection with a new local stream for each of the contributing engineering applications (e.g. DOORS Next Generation, Rational Design Manager, Rational Quality Manager, etc.), or a new global stream that is contributing to a larger global stream (e.g. a cross-lifecycle system component stream contributing to a cross-lifecycle system stream)

4. Save each global configuration that you updated.

5. Review global configurations before marking your task as “complete”.
