Workaround: Reconciled and renamed RequisitePro views and packages take time to reflect modifications

Summary

Reconciled and renamed Rational RequisitePro views and packages take around 10-40 minutes to reflect the modifications made in the Rational RequisitePro artifacts.

More Information

Problem

If the Rational RequisitePro server used as the requirements provider has a version lower than Rational RequisitePro build 7.1.2.7.D120411, the modifications performed on the RequisitePro views and/or packages will NOT be reflected immediately in the Rational Quality Manager reconcile action. This is due to the Rational RequisitePro server having a cache functionality that prevents the API call to obtain the most recent state of the artifact information, thus returning old data to Rational Quality Manager. The cache gets refreshed about 10-40 minutes after the modifications took place, allowing the reconcile action in Rational Quality Manager to receive the right data and update the renamed artifacts.

Workaround

To work around this issue for the current user session, perform the following steps:

  1. On the Rational RequisitePro server, open the Operating System process manager.
  2. Find all processes named “rqProxy”.
  3. End the identified processes.
  4. Once the processes are no longer running, in Rational Quality Manager, perform the requirements reconcile operation.

Note: This workaround is effective for the current session, and will need to be performed again any time you require an immediate reconcile action. Otherwise, the reconcile can be performed later (around 40 minutes) without a problem.
