Workaround: Rational Team Concert 4.0 Developer Trial CAL is incompatible with “10-Free” and “RTC Developer for Workgroups” CALs

Summary

Attempting to install the “10-Free” or “RTC Developer for Workgroups” CAL into a server where the Rational Team Concert 4.0 or 4.0.0.1 RTC Developer Trial CAL is installed displays an error that the CAL you are installing is incompatible.

More Information

Problem

An error occurs with the RTC Developer Trial CAL bundled with the 4.0 release, where it incorrectly reports that it is incompatible with the “10-Free” and “RTC Developer for Workgroups” CALs. The problem is fixed in the 4.0.0.2 release.

Workaround

There are currently two solutions available for this issue. If you do not require the 4.0 or 4.0.0.1 release, it is recommended that you install a 4.0.0.2 or later release, as the trial CALs packaged with those versions of the product do not have the problem. The second option is to use the license key management facilities in the admin Web UI to install an RTC Developer trial CAL that contains a fix. The following steps describe this process:
  1. Download the updated RTC Developer trial containing the fix here.
  2. Go to the “License Key Management” section of the admin web UI by navigating to https://<your_server_name>/jts/admin#action=com.ibm.team.repository.admin.manageLicenses.
  3. Click Add, and browse to the file that you downloaded in step 1.
  4. Click Finish to upload the updated CAL.
You can now install either the “10-Free” or “RTC Developer for Workgroups” CAL.

Note: If the trial CAL has not expired, it displays an active state. However, after it expires, the desired CAL is selected without any additional action.
