Workaround: Launchpads for products in the Rational solution for CLM do not start on Linux systems that use Mozilla Firefox version 16 or later
Problem
Launchpads for products in the Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) do not start on Linux systems that use Mozilla Firefox version 16 or later.
A capability was removed from recent versions of Mozilla Firefox, starting with version 16, that the CLM product launchpads require. If you attempt to start the launchpad on Linux systems with the affected browser versions, the launchpad window is not displayed or an error is displayed that states a supported browser could not be found.
Workaround
To read the text in the launchpad, view it on an unaffected system such as a Windows system or a Linux system with an earlier version of Mozilla Firefox.
To install CLM packages, start IBM Installation Manager directly by completing the following steps:
- Use a terminal window to change to the directory where the launchpad download was extracted.
- In the download directory, navigate to the subdirectory that contains IBM Installation Manager by completing the step that applies to your system:
- For new 64-bit Linux systems, invoke this command:
cd im/linux.gtk.x86_64 - For 32-bit Linux systems, or 64-bit systems that are already running a 32-bit version of IBM Installation Manager, invoke this command:
cd im/linux.gtk.x86
- For new 64-bit Linux systems, invoke this command:
- Complete the following step that applies to your installation scenario:
- To install as the root user and to see the full set of installable packages that are associated with the download, invoke the following command:
./install - To install as a non-root user and to see the full set of installable packages that are associated with the download, invoke the following command:
./userinst - To select from only the server packages and to install as a non-root user, invoke the following command:
./userinst -input install-server.xml - To install the Rational Team Concert – Client for Eclipse IDE as a non-root user, invoke the following command:
./userinst -input install-client.xml
- To install as the root user and to see the full set of installable packages that are associated with the download, invoke the following command:
Files in this directory with the naming pattern install-XYZ.xml are IBM Installation Manager response files. Additional response files might be included with your download, which can be passed with the -input parameter as shown in the examples above to select other subsets of the installation packages.
