Track Build Item info? help

there is a Track Build Item workitem type. Anyone have any links to docs on its intended usage, model, ...

we need a lot more than this appears to give, but there is overlap..

we have an automated system for delivering product/fixed to our external customers.. we don't just push files.. there is a ton of process, metadata.

but defects need to be reported against something.. and the traceability for mgmt needs to be easy and complete..
(fixed in a build , but never delivered to a customer is BAD)

but there is a large amount of integration with source, build objects, release (in the project process config) that we don't want to lose..

Sam, I found: https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/JFRelEng_HOWTO_CreateTBI

My interpretation is, that the track build work item is used to help release management and development to coordinate for the build/release.

thanks. that complicates my understanding, cause its more towards what I want, but still way too little data about the artifacts.

One thing to keep in mind is that all work item types have the same basic underlying semantics ... it is primarily the user-customizable pieces like the state diagram, what properties you select, and how you display them, which differentiates one work item type from another.
