where I can find the API about variations ?

I want to create a pulging ,which focus on the variation in 3D Game Programming .
I want design a process which can automatically record variation and verify the related workitem . I think this plugin need use some functions of RTC but I don't know where I can find the API about workitem and change set.
Is my idea possible?
