How do we version control test assets?

Jirong Hu (1.5k9295258) | asked Mar 13 '10, 10:38 a.m.
Assume we can integrate RQM/RFT/RPT with either RTC or ClearCase, I understand we can integrate RFT/RPT with ClearCase to get test scripts version controled, can we do the same with RTC?

How do we version control other test assets such as test plan and test cases?

Thanks
Jirong

Hi Jirong,

For RFT/RPT, I think this question more lays in the RFT/RPT forum rather than RQM forum but still, RFT's recent release had an integration with RTC. Please check http://rationaltester.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/new-release-rational-functional-tester-v8-1-storyboard-testing/
Also about Test assets like Test Plan and Cases, RQM support creating snapshots of the assets. If you create a snapshot of a test plan, the related testcase, execution records, results get baselined. You can see the snapshots and create copies of them too. Please check http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rqmhelp/v2r0/topic/com.ibm.rational.test.qm.doc/topics/t_versioning_parent.html
Thanks
Vaibhav
