Can you rename a Rational Quality Manager Project Area Alias

Is it possible to change the alias for a Rational Quality Manager Project Area?

I'm in a situation where the project area has had its name changed but when creating the URI for use with RPE I still have to use the old alias which can be confusing for people

Unfortunately it's not possible to do so. Even though it is called "alias", it is actually an Id.
A project alias is a generated unique identifier based on the URL encoded (see RFC 2396 ) form of a project's initial name. This identifier never changes once created, thus it can be used to reference a project even when the project's name is changed.
