Deploying Custom Plug-ins in production

For Custom jazz server-side and rtc client-side plug-ins/extentions, what is the best way to deploy them? What is Jazz/RTC installation story? Will it use IBM Installation Manager? Will Custom extensions be able to leverage the same deployment scenario?

Thanks!

I will leave it to someone else to comment on the best way to deploy
custom client/server extensions and plans for this going forward.

However, I can confirm that work is underway on an IBM Installation
Manager install package for Jazz/RTC.

James,

Thanks, I was at the Voice event yesterday and it seems that customers will need to create a custom extension for Java sync rules for the ClearQuest Connector. So there may be a strong need to have a deployment story for custom extensions. Should I create a work Item for this?

Synchronization rules are not Java; they are objects that reside in the Jazz repository and which are created/modified with a built-in editor in the RTC client. So custom extensions will not normally be needed in order to create synchronization rules. Extensions can be created to add to the kinds of property transformations that can be done between CQ field values and work item properties, but we think that will be a very advanced scenario, and the transformations that are supplied "out of the box" should suffice for most users.

Whether or not you'll need Java extensions to the declarative XML sync
rules will of course depend on what transformations you need. We'd be
interested in hearing about what transformations you will want/need, so
we can prioritize what transformations to include in the first release.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I do not have a list of transformations. I simply know that both ClearQuest and ClearCase allow you to be very....creative in how you customize them. For the use-case where that customization requires a Java Extension to the declarative XML sync rule, I am interested to know what is the plan to deploy the customization in a production environment.

The general topic of being able to "provision" a server is represented by work item 32911.
