Why doesn't Planned for show the timeline based on Team Area?

Radha Sastrigal (111222) | asked Dec 19 '14, 12:54 p.m.
 Using RTC 4.0.6

Created a Project with Team areas based on Functional team and associated each to respective Categories.
Team are actively using the project area.
Added Timeline such that each Team area can have individual timeline association.

When updating a Task to select timeline (Planned For) the timeline iterations do not show up based on the selected Team area and shows a different Timeline. (I did verify that the category associations were correct).

The same behaviour happens when I create  a new work item.

Is this a defect? or is there a step not being done correctly?

sounds like a bug. planned for attribute is marked as dependent on project area and category.
