Making a Text field mandatory when Field which is Enumeration is selected

Hi,

How to make the Field say Field X which is of Type Medium string a Mandatory field only when another field Say Field Y which is Enumeration is selected?

Is this possible?

I know this is possible through scripting.

Any Suggestions?

Please help
