SCC API for RTC config management?

I am looking at options for a customer, about how to use RTC for config management with Rational Tau (ex-Telelogic UML 2.1 modeling tool). Tau has an SCC client (Microsoft Visual Sourcesafe API), and one possibility is to develop an SCC integration (e.g. mapping SCC calls to scm command-line commands) to allow config management of model files in RTC. I know there would be compromises because SCC only provides very basic version management, but this approach is the most promising.

Is an SCC API for RTC being considered/on the roadmap, or has anyone prototyped or planned to develop this?
