internal representation of duration property

Can anybody tell me how RTC stores the value of the duration property internally? From my report experience I assumed it is stored as seconds, but when accessing the property with the JAVA API it looks as if the dimension is milliseconds (but not exactly).

Using REST API there is value returned in ms (1s = 1000ms). I am assuming that the same value should be returned by Java API
