I am the beginner and would like to learn DXL scripting so could you please provide me some basic materials and guidance. DXLAdimn - Mon May 02 00:15:42 EDT 2016 |
Re: DXL Beginner Why would you want to stunt your growth as an engineer and learn a technology that is becoming obsolete. Save yourself and focus on something that has career growth. That is my guidance. |
Re: DXL Beginner I agree that IBM is try to get away from DXL with DNG, but if your company uses DOORS then sometimes is helpful to know DXL. If you are not actively using DOORS in a project or you do not have some kind of target to achieve by using DXL, then it is not very easy to learn as you can only run the scripts within DOORS.
The information in DXL is pretty minimum on the web. You can download the DXL manual from IBM knowledge base, and you can search for DOORS DXL which will give you some sites with information in DXL.
Other than that if you want to you can get some training from IBM and partners on DXL and administration of DOORS. But it does not worth the effort and the money if you are not actively using DOORS, and your company has not requested and pay for that. |
Re: DXL Beginner I'm attaching a copy of the DXL Reference Manual. It's at least a start and describes the basic constructs of the DXL scripting language used by DOORS. This forum is not a bad place to look, either. When I had a task that I needed to accomplish with DXL, I would type a brief description in the Search (This Forum) field on this site and usually find some snippets (or even whole examples) that would help me resolve that task. Good Luck!! Attachments dxl_reference_manual.pdf |
