RTCEE Performance Testing: Mixed EE Benchmark and Incremental Build for Regression Scenariotodo.png

Authors: Jorge Diaz
Build basis: RTC 4.x

This scenario is consider one of the "Additional" ones, as it's not part of the standard set of test scenarios executed every time (i.e. in every release), as part of the RTCEE Benchmark Tests.
The specific scenarios in this category will vary because they are specially designed in every release to test the features that have performance related changes.

Note: For detail scenarios, please refer to 'Test Report' section to get the specific feature test you interested on.

Test Topologies

The following topologies are being used for the execution of this scenario in order to test the performance and gather relevant data.

Test Reports

RTC EE zIIP Offload Performance in 5.0

This report provides the offload percentage of a Java workload in RTC EE when using a System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP).

A zIIP processor can help to offload application workload (Java application) from z/OS greatly.

The objective of this testing was to understand the offload percentage of a Java workload in RTC EE by zIIP processor.

Detailed information about this scenario and test reports can be found here.

RTC EE Performance Improvement of Source Code Data Collection and Query in 5.0

This report compares the performance of Rational Team Concert (RTC) for z/OS of version 5.0 to the previous 4.0.6 release.

The version 5.0 enhancements include performance improvements in Enterprise Extensions source code data collection service and source code data query.

Source code data is collected by RTC to help find source code dependencies, which will be interrogated during dependency build. The source code data collection service is invoked both as an asynchronous daemon that runs on the Jazz Team Server, and also when a dependency build is requested. It can also be invoked manually in the Eclipse client.

Detailed information about this scenario and test reports can be found here.

Enterprise Extensions promotion improvements in Rational Team Concert version 5.0 on z/OS

This report provides performance data for the Enterprise Extensions promotion feature enhancements that were introduced in version 5.0. The tests compare performance between Rational Team Concert version 5.0 sprint 4 and version 4.0.6.

The objectives of our tests are to ensure that there is no regression and to verify the performance improvements of the promotion feature.

In our scenario, we measured how long it takes for the 'finalize build maps' process to complete with the 'publish build map links' option selected in v5.0 sprint 4 and v4.0.6 promotion definitions.

Rational Team Concert for z/OS Performance Impact of Java JFS API Adoption

RTC for z/OS has recently introduced a Java API to access JFS (Jazz Foundation Services) instead of using the HTTP APIs which provides the potential for significant performance improvements.

This report compares the performance before and after RTC for z/OS adopted the Java JFS API in part of the resource operations and queries.

This improved feature has been covered in both v4.0.5 and v4.0.6:
