Software Delivery and Lifecycle Patterns Green Hat (Test Virtualization) Workbook

Authors: RobbieMinshall, DennisSchultz
Build basis: Products, editions and versions as applicable

Work in progress. Revision 3.
  • [20131209] rjm adding in Cloud Group to the RTVS Table. Updated initial sections to refer to the infocenter.

The following workbook is intended to provide an introduction and hands on experience using Test Virtualization on the IBM Pure Application System Cloud Platform. The capabilities of the Rational Test Virtualization Server Shared Service and the Rational Test Workbench Pattern can best be demonstrated through this realistic example with the Day Trader Application. The lab is broken into two roles:

Shared Service Administrator (Adam)

Typically there are only a few Shared Service Administrators supporting a team. This person is responsible for Shared Service running within the cloud. They need to have Workload resources administration with full permissions or the Cloud Administrator role. See the InfoCenter for more details.

Software Engineer (Evan)

This person may be a Test Engineer or a Developer. They wish to record and test their application that is under development that is dependent upon some Web Services and a Database. The Software Engineer needs to have permission to Deploy patterns.

Typically the lab can be facilitated by one Shared Service Administrator and one to many Software Engineers.
