Pre-conditions:

• A new product variant has been established

Post-conditions:

• A new stream provided to facilitate Requirements Analysis work for the new variant

Steps

1. Open your project in an individual engineering tool. Make sure that an appropriate configuration is selected, representing the baseline of a product from which a variant was branched from in the Establish Variant task (e.g. AMR.S Mobile US.GA 2013-06-01)

2. Create a new stream from the selected baseline. Refer to specific tool mentors for more detailed guidance. Recommendation: use the same name for the local configuration as the one chosen to represent your new product variant. See Naming Convention.

3. Once a new Stream is created, it can set the context for engineering work on your new product variant. It can also become a part of the larger product configuration, which can in turn be used to set the context inside your engineering tool(s).
