Steps

1. Open the Configuration Management tool (log in if prompted), by selecting "Open Configuration Management" from the Configurations menu in Rational DOORS Next Generation (RDNG) or Rational Design Manager (RDM).

a. Select the "Global Configurations" tab to open the Welcome page

2. Select the base or a similar product’s global configuration in the product line, from which to branch the new variant. This is the source product variant, which should have been provided in the request.

a. In the Configuration Management tool, perform a search by typing the name of the source product variant.  

b. Once you find the starting Global Configuration, click to open its definition.

3. With the starting product variant selected, click on the “Duplicate stream” icon to branch a new variant.

a. Name the new variant and add a relevant description. See Naming Convention.
