Provide Local Requirements Stream using RDNG
This guideline describes how to branch work streams from baselines in individual contributing domain applications using IBM® Rational® DOORS® Next Generation (RDNG).

Main Description

Steps

1. Open and review the assigned task in your change management tool.

2. Open Rational DOORS Next Generation (login if prompted), and open your project.

Recommended Practice: Each system component should currently be managed via a separate DOORS Next Generation project since configuration management operations can currently be performed only at the project level. Therefore, perform steps 2-5 for each system component listed in your assigned task. For example, if the assigned task calls upon you to create local requirements streams for Meter Reader and a Meter Interface components, you will need to create new local requirement streams for each project.

3. In the “Configurations” menu, set an appropriate configuration for the project by selecting the baseline from which the new stream will be branched from (e.g., "AMR.S Mobile US.GA 2013-06-01" baseline as the starting point for the new “AMR.S Mobile UK” variant, or for the new “AMR.S Mobile US 2014” development stream, or for the new “AMR.S Mobile US.FP1” maintenance stream). The starting baseline should be indicated in the task assigned to you.

4. Create a new Stream from the selected Baseline. For the exact steps on how to branch new steps, refer to the online help topics. See also the Naming Convention.

5. Once a new Stream is created, it will become the context for requirements work on your new product variant or version for a given component. It can also become a part of the larger product stream, which can span across all the system components and/or across all lifecycle domains. This larger product stream can then be used to set the context inside all of your engineering tools.
