Use these recommendations to create meaningful search terms that will give you the most relevant results:
- Wildcard searches are supported by using the "?" symbol for a single character wildcard search or the "*" symbol for a multiple character wildcard search.
- Fuzzy searches are supported using the tilde "~" symbol. For example, searching work~ will find terms like workitems, workflow, etc.
Note: You cannot use a * or ? symbol as the first character of a search. - The relevance of a document can be controlled by boosting a search term. To boost a term, use the caret "^" symbol with a boost factor. For example, if searching for "DOORS Next", to boost the term "DOORS" to be more relevant, type DOORS^4 Next.
- Boolean operators such as AND, "+", OR, NOT and "-" are supported to combine or exclude search terms.
Note: Boolean operators must be ALL CAPS. - Use parentheses to group terms to form sub queries. For example, (requirements OR jazz) AND test.
- Special characters that are part of the query syntax can be escaped using slash key \ before the character. The special characters are - + - && || ! ( ) { } [ ] ^ " ~ * ? : \.
