1. Configure the server

1. Enable the use of scripts deployed as process attachments

The SAFe process templates includes scripts for the WSJF calculation.

Go to the administrative page of your RTC server https://your.server.name:9443/ccm/admin
Open the Application tab
From the left side-bar open Configuration > Advanced Properties
In the Work Item Component find the Enable Process Attachment Scripts property and set its value to true
Save your changes

2. Import SAFe report widgets

Download and import report widgets following the instructions on the portfolio or program dashboard. This only has to be done once per Jazz server.

2. Create each of the project and team areas

The following Lifecycle Project Area templates are available:

Full SAFe
Large Solution SAFe
Portfolio SAFe
Essential SAFe

Choose the appropriate Lifecycle Project Area template for your desired SAFe configuration, and create the Lifecycle Project using that template as described in Creating Lifecycle Projects. Instructions are provided below for each template:

2.1 Full SAFe

The lifecycle project creates the following application project areas:

Rational Team Concert Portfolio project area (based on Full SAFe template)
RDNG project area (based on Full SAFe template)
RQM project area (based on Full SAFe template)

Once the Lifecycle Project is created, create the Rational Team Concert project areas for each of the Programs as described in Configure Program RTC. Defer configuring dashboards for now.

2.2 Large Solution SAFe

The lifecycle project creates the following application project areas:

Rational Team Concert Solution project area (based on Large Solution SAFe template)
RDNG project area (based on Large Solution SAFe template)
RQM project area (based on Large Solution SAFe template)

Once the Lifecycle Project is created, create the Rational Team Concert project areas for each of the Programs as described in Configure Program RTC. Defer configuring dashboards for now.

2.3 Portfolio SAFe

The lifecycle project creates the following application project areas:

Rational Team Concert Portfolio project area (based on Portfolio SAFe template)
RDNG project area (based on Portfolio SAFe template)
RQM project area (based on Portfolio SAFe template)

Once the Lifecycle Project is created, create the Rational Team Concert project areas for each of the Programs as described in Configure Program RTC. Defer configuring dashboards for now.

2.4 Essential SAFe

The lifecycle project creates the following application project areas:

Rational Team Concert Program project area (based on Essential SAFe template)
RDNG project area (based on Essential SAFe template)
RQM project area (based on Essential SAFe template)

3. Link programs to portfolio or solution project area

This step does not apply to Essential SAFe, as the previous step already establishes all the necessary associations.

In order to link Features defined in a Program project area to higher level work items (Capabilities and Epics) in a Portfolio or Solution project area, using the link type "Tracks" or "Contributes to", you must first establish a "Provides - Related Change Requests" association between the project areas. This can be done from either project area, as the association will be automatically added to the other.

Now that all the project areas have been defined, you can configure the project and team areas.
