1a. Organisational Readiness - Strategic alignment and organisational readiness

The Release train engineer is responsible for assessing the readiness of the Strategy and Alignment to the Value Stream. This includes a review of the planning scope and context.

Topics to discuss include:

  • Planning Scope and context - is the product, system, and technology understood?

1b. Organisational Readiness - Strategic alignment and organisational readiness

The Release train engineer is responsible for assessing the readiness of business alignment, priorities and identifying the teams involved.

Interested stakeholders may include:

Confirm with the Business Owner to ensure readiness of business alignment and agile teams (identified resources).

Topics to discuss include:

  • Business Alignment - Do the business owners and product management agree on the priorities?
  • Agile Teams - have the teams needed to complete the planning been identified and are they structured and have the appropriate resource levels?


 

2. Content Readiness - Management and development preparedness

The Release train engineer is responsible to assessing the readiness of the content for the Program Increment Planning Event.

Topics to review include:

  • Executive Briefing - Is the Business Context clear?
  • Product Vision - Are the top 10 Features identified in the program backlog and included in the Product vision briefing?
  • Architecture Vision - Is the Architecture briefing prepared and aligned with the Product vision?

The Release train engineer is responsible for ensuring the availability of key stakeholders for the Program Increment planning event. 


Review the work items Prepare program level executive briefing, Prepare product vision briefing, and Prepare architecture vision briefing to check on their status.

3. Facility Readiness - The actual space and logistics for the event

The Release train engineer is responsible for ensuring the facilities (space and logistics) are correct for the Program Increment planning event.
