Tip: “Check for running servers” button removed from Installation Manager
Published: November 13, 2009Author: Sergio Deras, Chris Daly
Summary
This article explains the removal of the Check for running servers button from the Installation Manager File Backup panel for uninstall, update, and rollback of the Jazz Team Server. The button was removed for the 2.0.0.2 release of Rational Team Concert.
More Information
During uninstall, update, and rollback of the Jazz Team Server, the Installation Manager displays a File Backup panel. Previous versions (2.0.0.1 and older) of this panel contained a button labeled Check for running servers. This button may fail to return the correct running or stopped state of installed servers, so it has been removed from the panel. The previous location of the button is shown in the image below.
Before proceeding with an uninstall, update, or rollback of the Jazz Team Server, the administrator must verify that the server is not running.
If the Jazz Team Server is running in Tomcat using the supplied server startup script, use the shutdown script (server.shutdown.bat on Windows or server.shutdown.sh on Unix) to stop it, and check the server logs to verify that it stopped.
If the Jazz Team Server is running in Websphere Application Server or another application container, use the mechanisms of the application container to stop the Jazz Team Server.
The Check for Running Servers button previously used the repotools command with the -isServerRunning option. See the referenced link below for the usage and limitations of this command.
