Rational Reporting for Development Intelligence (RRDI) reports imported to Rational Team Concert and Quality Manager can be broken upon upgrade.
Rational Team Concert and Rational Quality Manager upgrade procedure can break RRDI custom reports, if an RRDI report in RTC or RQM has the same name as one of the out-of-the-box BIRT reports.
Symptoms: After an product upgrade, an RRDI report, which is imported into RQM or RTC, will not work anymore.
Cause: RTC/RQM upgrade will attempt to upgrade the contents of the out-of-the-box reports to the latest version (since the contents may have changed between one version of the product and another).
The search is performed by identifier, but also by name.
So if some other user-created report, such as an RRDI report, happens to have the same name as an out-of-the-box BIRT report, we will attempt to upgrade its contents to BIRT contents, thereby breaking the RRDI report.
Environment: RTC or RQM running with RRDI
Diagnosing the Problem:
- Upgrading RTC and/or RQM
- RRDI is used to generate reports
- Some RRDI reports have the same name as the RTC and/or RQM OOTB one's
- Such reports are broken upon upgrade.
Resolving the Problem:
- Use different name for RRDI reports before upgrading
- Recreate the broken reports after the upgrade.
