Question

How can I install the IBM Rational Team Concert Client by extending an existing Eclipse 3.4.2 environment?

Cause

Patches are required for the IBM Eclipse version 3.4.2 for Rational products. Without the patches installed, the following error message might be encountered during installation:

Feature "org.eclipse.equinox.p2.user.ui.R342patch" is missing
Feature "org.eclipse.rcp.R342patch" is missing
Feature "org.eclipse.jdt.R342patch" is missing

Some features and bundles of your existing Eclipse installation need to be upgraded with newer versions or are missing. You must update your existing Eclipse using its Install/Update manager. Use its "Help > Software Updates > Find and Install..." menu item to invoke its Install/Update manager.

Alternatively, you can download the features and bundles from eclipse.org.

Answer

Patches must be installed on top of IBM Eclipse 3.4.2 before installing Rational Team Concert 2.0 client extending Eclipse 3.4.2.

Note: Language Selection
You cannot select any languages other than English during your install of the product. Because there are no translations available for Eclipse 3.4.2, you cannot add language packs when extending an existing Eclipse IDE. If you need translations, you must install the IBM Rational product by itself and not by extending an existing Eclipse IDE.
