Workaround Summary

In Windows Explorer, the .jazzignore file is displayed as a file without a file name.

More Information

Environment

This issue occurs on Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems.

Diagnosing the problem

Open Windows Explorer. Click Tools > Folder Options. In the Folder Options window, click the View tab. In the Advanced Settings section, check whether Hide extensions for known file types is selected.

Reason

In Windows Explorer, the extensions of known file types are hidden if Hide extensions for known file types is selected. As long as the .jazzignore file is not associated with a program for viewing, it is displayed as .jazzignore. After the file has been associated with a program for viewing, the file is displayed as a file without a name because the text after the .(dot) in the file name is hidden.

Workaround

To work around this issue, clear Hide extensions for known file types.
