Build Basis: Rational Team Concert 3.0.1
Summary
Upon installing a 3rd party plug-ins (Subclipse, etc.), the functionality, menus, views and/or perspectives do not appear.
More Information
Scenario: You have RTC 3.0.1.x Eclipse client installed with Installation Manager and working.
You use Help > Install New Software as normal to install 3rd party plug-ins (Subclipse, etc.). The install goes fine, it asks you to restart then you look at the installed plug-ins in the Eclipse configuration without no errors but the plug-ins do not actually work, the functionality, menus, views and/or perspectives do not appear.
Environment
The operative systems that have shown the problem are:
- Windows 7
- Ubuntu 10
- Install RTC Eclipse Client 3.0.1.x with your administrative Installation Manager, default values where used to install.
- Start the product Rational Team Concert – Client for Eclipse IDE (RTC) as a normal user.
- Select Help-Install New Software….
- Add the source of your third party plug-ins to the list of sources.
- Proceed with the install.
- Restart RTC when it is required.
- Search for the functionality of your plug-ins
- If the functionality is not available but Eclipse indicates that your plug-ins are loaded
Choose one of the workaround methods described below to successfully install your third party plugins on top of the RTC 3.0.1.x Eclipse client:
- Start RTC Eclipse Client as admin (Run as Administrator in Windows 7 or
su
in Linux) and then install your plug-ins. - Install RTC Eclipse Client product in a non-virtualized folder, other than C:Program Files (x86) or /opt/IBM.
- Use our RTC Eclipse Client Plain Zip. You can get the 3.0.1.2 version here: https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/3.0.1.2?p=allDownloads, check the Plain Zips section
- Install the RTC Eclipse features and plug-ins using the RTC p2 install repostiory in your existing Eclipse environment and install your plug-ins there too, search for the p2 Install Repository in https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/3.0.1.2?p=allDownloads
