Platform: Windows
Client: Rational Team Concert 2.0 client for Visual Studio IDE

Summary

When using Rational Team Concert 2.0 client for Visual Studio IDE to connect to an RTC 2.0.0.1 server, bulk editing of work items will not work.

More Information

Symptom

  • In the Team Artifacts view, executing any of the Work Item queries under My Queries or Shared Queries for the first time will result in the following error:

    Unknown attribute: com.ibm.team.workitem.internal.categoryRoot"

The above error will appear on the title of Work Item view.

  • In the Work Item view, selecting one or more Work Items and selecting the bulk edit options in context menu may not work, even though the menu items are enabled.

Cause

Using RTC 2.0 client for Microsoft Visual Studio IDE against RTC server 2.0.0.1 or above causes this issue.

Diagnosing the problem

Check whether the client version is 2.0 and the server version is 2.0.0.1 or above.

Resolving the problem

  • Re-running the query will display the results and the “Unknown attribute” error will disappear.

  • Few bulk edit menu items may work (like changing the owner), but most of the menu items will not work. For entire bulk edit functionality, the recommendation is to upgrade the client to RTC 2.0.0.1.
