Summary

This article describes how to override the default absolute URLs generated by a Jazz Team Server for external hyperlinks rendered as part of e-mails and cross repository links, for example.

More Information

There are situations where users observe that the URLs generated for external hyperlinks to Jazz artifacts (e.g., links to Rational Team Concert work items in e-mails) are unreachable. This can happen when the Jazz Team Server is behind a reverse proxy server and/or a firewall, or when the machine name introspected by the Jazz application does not match what is publicly accessible to the user.

To ensure the stability of links to repository artifacts, the Jazz server provides the ability to configure the server to always use a specified URL as the root for all generated links, regardless of the physical machine name of the server hosting the Jazz application. This option can also be used to provide flexibility in the event you decide to move the server to another machine in the network.

To set up the server for this, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the server Admin Web UI with a user ID that has administrator access. Here is an example URL for the admin Web UI, where example.com:9443 are your domain name and port for your actual installation:
    https://example.com:9443/jazz/admin
  2. In the left navigation, select Configuration > Advanced Properties:

    Screen cap of advanced configuration

  3. Search for the property Public URI Root:

Screen cap of public URI root

  4. Set the value to the base URL visible externally.
  5. Click Save at the top of the page to save the properties.
