Workaround: Overlay icons do not appear on files and folders in a sandbox in Rational Team Concert Shell

Summary

In Rational Team Concert Shell, overlay icons are used to indicate the source control status of files and folders in a sandbox. In some cases, these overlay icons do not appear on files and folders even if they are shared under source control.

More Information

After setting a sandbox:

• No overlay icons installed by Rational Team Concert Shell appear on files and folders shared under source control.
• Not all overlay icons overlay installed by Rational Team Concert shell do not appear on files and folders under source control. For instance, icon overlay indicating unresolved status does not appear on a file that has been changed but not checked in to source control yet.

Environment

Operating system is Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 7.

Diagnosing the problem

Click on Start > All Programs > IBM Rational Team Concert Shell > Overview. In the Overview dialog, click on Run Self check button. Check whether the image in the status column is .

Reason

Rational Team Concert Shell installs icon overlay handlers. Icon overlay handlers provide the overlay icons for the file/folder icons inside the sandbox to indicate the source control status of files and folders. If the overall number of icon overlay handlers registered in the system is more than a certain number, then some of the icon overlay handlers are not recognised by the system. If some of the icon overlay handlers installed by Rational Team Concert Shell are not recognised, then the icon overlay corresponding to the handler will not appear on file/folder icon inside the sanbdox.
