Customizing attributes

This section describes how you can customize attributes for work item types.

Customizing attributes is a way to add behavior to attributes of work item types. For example, you might want to validate an attribute value, or set its value based on other attribute values. To customize an attribute, perform the following steps:

  1. Create an instance of an attribute customization. Each customization instance has a name, belongs to a type, and specifies a provider. See Customization types for a list of the available types and their providers.
  2. Configure the customization instance. You can configure most customizations by using the Process Configuration tab of the Project Area editor in the IBM® Rational Team Concert™ client for Eclipse IDE. You can configure script-based customizations in the Process Configuration Source tab.
  3. Create a custom attribute and apply the customization instance to it.
