Suspending change sets

To remove a change set from your repository workspace but keep it in the repository, you can suspend it. You can restore it whenever you want to resume your work.

Before you begin

Before you suspend a change set, you must check in or undo any unresolved changes to files in the change set.

About this task

You might need to begin working on a new change set before you are finished with one that is in progress in your workspace. In this situation, you can suspend the current change set, which removes it from your workspace but preserves it in the repository. The files in a suspended change set revert to the state they were in before the change set was started, and the change set is moved to the My Suspended Change Sets folder in the Team Artifacts view. Depending on your preference settings, suspended change sets can also appear in a Suspended folder in the Pending Changes view.
Note: You cannot add new changes to a suspended change set. To resume work on a suspended change set, right-click it and then click Resume.

Procedure

  1. If the change set is not visible in the Pending Changes view, click the Expand to Change sets toolbar icon Expand to show change sets icon.
  2. In the Pending Changes view, navigate to the change set that you want to suspend.
  3. Right-click the change set and click Suspend.

Results

The change set moves to the My Suspended Change Sets folder under the My Source Control folder in the Team Artifacts view. Depending on your preference settings, the suspended change set is visible in the Suspended folder in the Pending Changes view.

Under the My Suspended Change Sets folder in the Team Artifacts view, the change sets are grouped by component and include suspended change sets from all the workspaces that you own.

Under the Suspended folder in the Pending Changes view, each workspace and component have its own Suspended folder.

New changes accumulate in a new change set, or in an existing one that you designate as current

To turn off the visibility of suspended change sets, in the Pending Changes view, click the View menu and then click Preferences. Click to expand Team > Jazz Source Control > Changes. In the Pending Changes View section, clear the Show suspended change sets check box.
