Engineering Insights reporting

You can generate reports from views at any point in the product development lifecycle. Reports can be viewed in a printable format and can be exported to Microsoft Word, PDF, or XSL-FO format.

IBM® Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Engineering Insights (ENI) comes with a report in a tabular format, named sample. For more information, see Generating reports from views.

To generate a report from a view, you need a custom report resource (template). For more information, see Setting up a report template.

To generate a report from a view, complete the following steps:
  1. Create custom report templates in IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Publishing (PUB).
  2. Create a view by using SPARQL queries.
  3. Generate a report from the view.
  4. Save the report.
  5. Export the report to a Microsoft Word, PDF, or XSL-FO format, or view the report in a printable format.
  6. Run the report. To share the report with a team, move the report to the Shared Reports folder.

Customize reports with Engineering Publishing

To customize reports created from views, use PUB. The product is not included in ENI. A separate installation and license is required.

With PUB, you can create various report templates that you can use to generate reports from ENI views.

Contact your server administrator to check whether PUB is already installed and to obtain the license server path that you need to connect to the server. Confirm that you can connect to the license server. You can also install PUB on your own.

For Rational® Publishing Engine usage information, see Authoring document-style reports.
