Selecting resources to ignore in Engineering Workflow Management source control

When you create a project in Microsoft Visual Studio, a number of files or folders are created that you might not want to share in Engineering Workflow Management source control. You can restrict these resources being checked-in to Engineering Workflow Management source control by ignoring them.

About this task

The list of resources to be ignored by Engineering Workflow Management source control is specified in the .jazzignore file. This file is typically placed in the root folder of the project. The .jazzignore file can be in any subfolder. Engineering Workflow Management source control has predefined patterns to be ignored. You can also add more patterns to the list. You can add resources to the ignore list from the Solution Explorer tool window.

Procedure

To add resources to the ignore list:

  1. Select the resource from the Solution Explorer window.
Note: You can also perform these steps from the Sandbox Explorer window.
  2. Either right-click the resource and click Add to Ignore List or click Team Concert > Jazz Source Control > Add to Ignore List.
  3. In the Add to Ignore List window, select whether you want to ignore the resource by its name, file extension, or pattern. You can also select whether you want to ignore the resource in its current local directory or in the entire solution directory.
Tip: You can also create ignore rules when you share resources. After you create an ignore rule, you can reverse it using the Remove from Ignore List action.
  4. Click OK.
