Delivering change sets

You must deliver the change sets to make them available to the rest of the team.

Before you begin

Before delivering change sets, you must check in the changes.

About this task

Every change set that you deliver is associated with a work item. You can either just deliver the change set and then open the work item to change the status to resolved or you can use the Deliver and Resolve Work Item option to deliver the change set and resolve the work item simultaneously. To deliver the change set, in the Pending Changes window, expand the Outgoing folder, right-click the change set and click Deliver.
Note: If there are build errors in the change set, a warning is displayed while delivering that change set. The check for build errors is performed based on the client side precondition set. For more information, see Team process preconditions for Engineering Workflow Management source control operations.

Procedure

  1. In the Pending Changes window, expand the Outgoing folder of the component that contains the change set.
Tip: To view change sets grouped by outgoing work items, at the top of the Pending Changes window, click the arrow beside the search field; then click Show Outgoing Work Items.
  2. Optional: To specify a non-default flow target before you deliver changes, complete the following steps:
    1. In the Pending Changes window, right-click the repository workspace, and click Change Flow Target.
    2. Optional: To change the flow target to a different repository, in the Select a Stream or Workspace window, click Repository. In the Select a Repository window, select the target repository from the list and click OK.
Note: To change the flow target to a different repository, you must have distributed source control enabled. For more information, see Flowing changes to different repositories.
    3. In the Select a Stream or Workspace window, select from the list of targets you added to your repository workspace, or enter a text string to search for another stream or workspace.
  3. Right-click the change set, and click Deliver and Resolve Work Item.
  4. Optional: If you have not associated a work item with the change set, in the Deliver and Resolve window, associate a work item by creating a work item or selecting an existing work item by typing its ID or summary text.
  5. Optional: In the Deliver and Resolve window, complete the following actions:
    1. Add a comment.
    2. Click Add to add approvers.
    3. Enter a subject for the approval process.
  6. Click Finish.

What to do next

The outgoing change sets are automatically marked complete if they were not already completed, and then delivered to the flow targets of your workspace.
