Getting started with configuration management

Get started with your project's configuration management process, source control, builds, and integration with other configuration management tools.

About this task

Note: In this topic, configuration management refers specifically to the IBM® Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) source control management (SCM) tools. As of the 6.0 release, the Rational® solution for CLM supports versioning of artifacts in the Rational Quality Manager (QM) and Requirements Management (RM) applications. In those applications, versions of artifacts are tracked in configurations. The IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management also includes the Global Configuration Management application, which lets you assemble configurations from multiple applications. In this way, you can track and manage specific versions of artifacts across the development lifecycle. In addition to including QM and RM configurations, a global configuration can include a EWM SCM baseline. For details about global configurations, see Global Configuration Management.
