Creating and starting reviews

You can create a review of artifacts, such as models and designs, so that other team members can review their content. You can also create reviews to gather feedback on a change set before you commit it.

About this task

You can create a formal, informal or change set review. A formal review requires a baseline so that reviewers have access the specific version of the artifacts in a baseline. An informal review does not require a baseline because reviewers have access to the most recent version of the artifacts available in the stream. A change set review only requires a change set.

Procedure

  1. On the main toolbar, click Reviews and, under Create, click Review.
  2. In the New Review window, complete the following steps:
    1. Type a review title.
    2. Select a configuration. The available configurations are the current stream, any owned baselines, and any non-committed change sets that have been created in your current stream.
    3. Specify a due date.
    4. Type a clear and concise set of instructions for the review; use this field to provide guidance on what you expect from reviewers and to define any review objectives.
  3. In the Participants table, repeat the steps for each participant to add:
    1. Click Add.
    2. Enter search criteria to find the user, or use the asterisk (*) wildcard to locate all users.
    3. Select the users to add.
    4. Select the role for the participants: Reviewer, Approver, or Subscriber.
  4. In the Artifacts table, complete these steps for each artifact to add to the review; ignore these steps if your review is associated with a change set (change set artifacts under review are automatically added to the Artifacts table; you cannot modify these artifacts):
    1. Click Add.
    2. Enter a search string, for example, the name of a model element. Your search is limited to elements in the configuration that you associated with the review. You can also add an artifact that you pinned by using the Pinboard view.
    3. Select the artifacts to include in the review process.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Enter additional details in the description field; this field is useful if you want to provide specific review guidance. If your guidance is more general, consider adding the text in the Review instructions field described above.
  5. Click Save.
  6. After you have added all participants and artifacts, click Start Review to begin the review.
