Defining types of links between project artifacts

As an administrator with permission to manage link types, you can customize the types of links that exist between artifacts in different projects. A link type is the kind of link that exists between two artifacts such as a model element and a requirement. The link type explains the semantics of the relationship and is directional.

Before you begin

You must be logged in to the Design Management Server with an ID that has permissions to create, edit, and delete link types.

  1. Click the Home icon and, from the Design Management section, select a project.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the browser, click the Administration icon and select Manage Project Properties. If the Project Linking page is not displayed, in the left navigation menu, click Link Management > Project Linking.
  3. Click Save.

What to do next

After you create a custom link, you can use it in a Design Management artifact to show the relationship between two artifacts. You can also use link types as search parameters in reports across multiple domains or multiple hosts, for example, to obtain lists of artifacts with specific characteristics.
