Integrating

You can integrate Design Management capabilities with other Rational products such as IBM® Rational® DOORS®, IBM Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager, and products in the Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM)
There are several advantages to integrating Design Management capabilities with other Rational products:
  • Traceability between designs, requirements, test artifacts, and work items in lifecycle management projects.
  • Ability to plan and deliver solutions with Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration - Change Management (OSLC-CM) providers such as the change and the configuration management and the requirements management applications in the Rational solution for CLM.
  • Ability to easily view and understand how potential changes to designs or requirements can impact projects.
As the following diagram illustrates, several key steps are involved in integrating design artifacts with other lifecycle artifacts:
  • If the Design Management Server is a different server than the Jazz™ Team Server that hosts the other lifecycle applications, you must ensure that the two servers are set up as friends.
  • After you create a Design Management project and configure the workspace, you must set up associations between the design project and related projects.
  • In order to create links between resources, link types must be defined. Design Management provides a set of predefined link types that make it easy to set up a project.
