Log files for Design Management

If you encounter errors or exceptions, you can refer to the log files for the application, such as the dm.log (Design Management) and jts.log (Jazz Team Server) files, to research the issues and find resolutions for them.

Note the default file locations according to the server that you use.

Apache Tomcat server that is started with the server.startup.bat file:
  • The default dm.log file location is installation_directory/server/logs/dm.log.
  • The default jazz.log file location is installation_directory/server/logs/jts.log.
IBM WebSphere® Application Server:

The location of the log files is determined by the log4j.properties file in the Design_Management_installation_directory/server/conf/dm directory. You can define the location of the log4j.properties file with this JVM argument: Dlog4j.configuration=<full file path>.

If you are using a Tomcat server, you set the JVM arguments on the command line in the server.startup script. If you are using WebSphere Application Server, you set the JVM arguments in the WebSphere Application Server JVM configuration page.

The default setting for the dm.log file is log4j.appender.file.File=logs/dm.log. The default setting for the jazz.log file is log4j.appender.file.File=logs/jts.log.
