Lesson 1.2: Create a physical machine with minimal data

In this lesson you, in the role of the test manager, create a physical machine by entering a minimal amount of data.

About this task

To create a physical machine with minimal data:


  1. Log in as Tammy, the test manager. Type tammy for the user ID and tammy for the password.
  2. In the main menu, click Lab Management > Create > Machine. The Create Machine editor opens.
  3. Type Machine1 as the name of the machine.
  4. Click <Click here to enter a description>, and type Beta test machine for the description of the machine.
  5. In Owner, select Tammy.
  6. In Operational Status, ensureAvailable is selected.
  7. In the General Info section, complete these steps:
    1. In Type, select PhysicalMachine.
    2. In Administrative Status, select Enabled.
  8. Expand the Operating System section and in OS Type, select Linux.
  9. Click Save. The physical machine definition is saved in the lab management database.
