Tracking requirements and development artifacts

From the Quality Management application, you can track the requirements and development artifacts that are associated with the test effort, thus allowing you to trace artifacts through the full product lifecycle. You can track the requirement collections and development plans that are associated with your test plans and track the individual requirements and development work items that are associated with test cases.

Before you begin

Before you track associated requirement and development artifacts, you must create the links between these artifacts.

Procedure

  1. Browse to a list of test plans or test cases.
    • To browse to a list of test plans, click Planning > Browse > Browse Test Plans.
    • To browse to a list of test cases, click Construction > Browse > Browse Test Cases.
  2. From the list, filter the results as you want so that only the requested test plans or test cases are displayed.
  3. Click View As > Traceability.

    The filtered list is displayed along with the requirement artifacts that are validated by the test plan and the development artifacts that the test plan tests.

  4. Hover over a requirement or development artifact to see a preview of that artifact or click the artifact name to open it. A development artifact opens in Change and Configuration Management. A requirements artifact opens in Requirements Management.
